Meet our Sponsors and where they will be on the day

We are an ambitious, modern university applying AI and other cutting-edge technologies across our world-class research, education and partnerships

Join our University of Plymouth teams outside Market Hall at “LifeIn AI 2026” for live demonstrations of autonomous robotics platforms and see cutting-edge technology in action. Meet the team, explore real-world applications and discover how robotic systems are transforming agriculture, environmental monitoring and autonomous operations.

11:00 - 12:00 & 15:00 - 16:00pm — (Immersive Dome)
University of Plymouth & Soundview Media: “Making the Invisible, Visible”

Combining underwater cinematography and real-time 3D visualisation, this immersive dome film brings Smart Sound and Sub Sea Connect to life, taking audiences beneath the surface of Plymouth Sound to explore the UK’s pioneering subsea testbed for marine autonomy and AI-enabled ocean technologies.

14:30-15:00: Team Plymouth workshop (Workshop Room)
“AI For Everyone Workshop”. Curious about AI but not sure where to start? Join this interactive session that shows how AI can support life, learning and work.

Led by the University of Plymouth’s Delivery Manager Vicki Kennedy alongside Babcock AI expert Liam Palette

14:45- 15:15 University of Plymouth Talk (Keynote area)
“AI and Robotics for Health and Wellbeing: From Understanding Data to Intelligent Assistance”

By University of Plymouth AI and Robotics lecturer, Dr Amir Aly.

This session with Dr Amir Aly — a researcher and academic in the fields of AI and robotics — explores how intelligent technologies are moving from analysing information to playing a more active role in people’s lives. He will examine the opportunities AI and robotics are creating for health and wellbeing, alongside the challenges and limitations that come with their use. Bringing these themes together, the talk will follow the journey from using AI to make sense of complex information to developing systems that can interact, adapt and provide assistance in real-world settings, while considering how these advances can be used effectively and responsibly.

16:00 - 17:00: Interactive Workshop (Workshop Room)
“The Unfiltered AI Conversation”

By University of Plymouth’s Rupert Lorraine and Ben Siu. These two practitioners share how they’re using AI across work, business and everyday life.

The University of Plymouth’s Rupert Lorraine, Sector Lead (Creative Economy), and Ben Siu, Associate Professor in Marketing at Plymouth Business School, held a highly popular workshop at “LifeIn AI 2025”. They are back this year, comparing notes on how AI is changing what they can do. They’ll share real examples of things they’ve built and automated, show how they got there, discuss some of the AI stories making the news and invite the room into the conversation. The session includes an opening sense-check on how people in the room are already using AI, followed by a clear, jargon-free overview of what today’s AI tools are good at, where they are less reliable and why judgement, context and human responsibility still matter. Rupert and Ben will also take a rapid, conversational look at AI news, claims and anxieties – separating useful developments from hype, challenging a few common misconceptions and exploring the questions that deserve more attention – before moving into a practical show-and-tell featuring real examples of things they’ve built, automated or approached differently with AI.

12:00 - 12:20: Live streamed Podcast, listen and watch on The Devon Chamber of Commerce LinkedIn or Facebook Page.
“Can AI Really Understand Us? What Machines Get Right, Wrong and Still Miss”

By University of Plymouth AI and Robotics lecturer, Dr Amir Aly. Does AI really understand humans or does it only appear to — and what does that mean for how much we should trust it?
